I bought a Belkin F5D7050 from www.linux-emporium.co.uk on the basis
that it was a Ralink chipset with open source drivers. As usual, Belkin
had changed the chipset without changing the model number - only to
another Ralink chipset, but I've had major difficulty getting this
working. I've got it sort-of-working with Ralink's open source drivers,
but barely useable. So I'm now trying ndiswrapper. I have installed the
latest ndiswrapper and wpa_supplicant - 1.17 and 0.4.9 respectively.
I've followed the instructions for ndiswrapper and get

[root@halmos src]# ndiswrapper -l
Installed drivers:
rt73 driver installed, hardware present

so that seems OK. But I can't get wpa_supplicant to configure the
interface properly. If anybody can make any sense of the following
output from

[root@halmos src]# wpa_supplicant -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -iwlan0 \
-Dndiswrapper -dddd &> wpa_supplicant.out

then I'd be very grateful. As far as I can tell from Google nobody has
managed to make an rt73 based device work with ndiswrapper.

Thanks for any help.

Problem solved. Yesterday Ralink released version 1.0.3.6 of the native
rt73 linux driver, which works on my Lenovo Thinkpad. The previous
version was OK on my desktop PCs, but wouldn't work at all on the Thinkpad.
