I have both win98se and xp on my computer, different partitions, one hd. In xp
there is no problem with the usb connections, but when I try to use a usb in
win98se, it doesn't acknowledge the periphial. The bios is enabled for usb, so
I'm assuming it would go for both os's. BTW, I read somewhere here in the web a
while back that some usb ports are stronger than the others on the same
computer. The rear usb ports are the stronger, compared to the front usb ports.
I have 2 in the front and 4 in the rear. With XP i've tried both and no
problem, but not so with win98. Any clues?

Check Device Manager for "Unkown Devices" under Win98 after you plug
in the device. If you find them, delete the unknown devices and
install the correct drivers.

Good Luck...

In some cases, the motherboard or PC maker may reserve the USB 2.0 ports for
front or rear use only. There's no "stronger" thing to it. Since all work
in XP, that's not the case here. What's the mystery peripheral, and do you
have enhanced USB in XP and not 98?
