I have just set up an SMC Barricade g with usb print server. The
problem I have is my printer is a lexmark x-74 all in one and when I
configure the printer port and try to send a print job I am greeted
with an error message that the printer must be connected by a usb
cable. Well it is to the router but the configuration is to a port
with an ip adress for the router. Has anyone run into this and found a
solution?

I've tried spport for SMC with no luck other thab being told all in
ones are not suported. I've tried to configure the printer using print
drivers for lexmarks inkjets with no luck.

Lexmark support has not responded to my question as yet.

Any ideas ould be welcome

Sounds like you need to redefine the printer as a networked printer,
rather than a local one. Windows, yes?

The all-in-ones require bidirectional support, the USB printserver may
not support that.
Also, obvious point, but make sure you rebooted all the devices
(including any PCs) after you installed the drivers. This one got me
at first.

I have my X5150 all in one working in a similar setup - the difference
for me is that the "print server" is a Mac running lpd. It works but
not every time, and even then it works s-l-o-w-l-y and I mean
slooooooooooowly.....
