I recently installed a Netgear wireless access point to my
broadband router. I have installed a netgear MA111 USB
wireless adapter to my laptop; I can access every thig ok
but I can only get the USB device to work after letting
the pc boot up and then connect to USB device. If I boot
up with the device connected the pc hangs; the pc will
also not shut down from the shutdown menu. I am told by
Netgear that there is a problem with win 98 and USB and
there is a fix but I can't find it; can you help?

Your PC may need a BIOS flash to correct a bug in how it handles boot-time
USB setup.

I have exactly the same problem with a desktop PC with a D-link
DWL-120+ USB wireless adapter and Windows ME. It will not boot if the
device is plugged in.

The BIOS is Award Modular Ver. 4.51PG.

I'll be interested to know if you find a fix.
