Can anyone recomend a USB headset which works under Linux? The one I
have, a Cyber Acoustics AC-850 USB Headset, is supposed to work, according
to <http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/showdev.php?id=3511>, but I can't get
any sound out of it

When I run the sound detection I don't hear anything from the headset.
However, the soundcard works, regular speakers work. This is in fedora
core 4.

thanks,

Thufir

Check out the Logitech headsets:

They have a few USB that work just fine for me. I am on Gentoo however.
Make sure that you have changed you're output and input device accordingly.
If you're speakers are still making sound, then there is a good change you
just have a configuration issue. When you switch to your headset, your
speakers should shut off.

Aha, thanks, I *bet* that it's just a configuration issue, since the
website I checked indicated that this particular headset should work
and I'm using the most current fedora distro.

<http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-HOWTO/Sound-HOWTO.html> doesn't mention
USB devices, and it's the best source I've yet found. Can you be more
specific about what needs to be configured?

Thanks,

Thufir
