Hi all :-)

I have recently acquired a WiFi BEFW11S4 v4 Wireless-B Broadband
Router from linksys (the router).
http://www.linksys.com/products/prod...id=35&prid=544

I also use the Alcatel Speedtouch 330 as my USB ADSL modem (the
modem).

My question is : what is the cheapest way to connect my USB modem to
the ethernet-only router?

Possible answers :

1. There is this product from linksys : USB100TX EtherFast® 10/100 USB
Network Adapter
http://www.linksys.com/products/prod...id=126&scid=30
Will it work for me?

2. I also have a machine running Debian 3.0r1. One solution, which I
found "dirty", is to use this machine as a relay between the modem and
the router.
In that case, what are the necessary daemons (at minimum) to connect
the modem to the router?
The point is I want to let the router do all the job, without having
to use any linux speedtouch driver but some kind of "forwarding" from
the machine's USB tap to the machine's ethernet tap.

Thanks !

No!
This adapter lets you use one of your USB port on your computer as an
Ethernet port, it still needs driver software.

But you "should" be able to ask for an Ethernet version of your modem from
you ISP.

Unfortunately, my ISP only provides this modem. I also signed that I
wouldn't use another modem ...

Is there any USB to ethernet equipement that could do ? For example, a
wired router that I could connect between the WiFi router and the USB
modem ?

Unfortunately, I don't think there is such a thing as a router with a USB
port for the modem, the router would still need a driver for a particular
modem. There are routers with a USB port *but* for the PC connection.

Unless someone else comes up with a router that can do this...

A suggestion: a router with ADSL modem built-in, look at the LinkSys
BEFSRU31 for example:

http://www.linksys.com/products/prod...id=160&scid=29

Be carefull if you are ever interested by one of these routers, there are
different DSL protocol and make sure it can support your ISP protocol.
