Hello,

I have the following problem: I would like to connect 2PCs with a USB
2.0 laplink cable, but I couldn't find this type of cable, which is
supported in linux. Do you know some information about the supported
types? And another question - is it possible to make a bridge (for
example br0), which will contain an ethernet device and a USB link
device?

Thanks a lot for your advices and experiences.

During setting up 2.6.10 for compile, these showed up, saved them
as I remembered your post, those are supported if not more at
least by 2.6.10:

*
* USB Host-to-Host Cables
*
ALi M5632 based 'USB 2.0 Data Link' cables (USB_ALI_M5632) [Y/n/?] y
AnchorChips 2720 based cables (Xircom PGUNET, ...) (USB_AN2720) [Y/n/?] y
eTEK based host-to-host cables (Advance, Belkin, ...) (USB_BELKIN) [Y/n/?] y
GeneSys GL620USB-A based cables (USB_GENESYS) [Y/n/?] y
NetChip 1080 based cables (Laplink, ...) (USB_NET1080) [Y/n/?] y
Prolific PL-2301/2302 based cables (USB_PL2301) [Y/n/?] y
KT Technology KC2190 based cables (InstaNet) (USB_KC2190) [Y/n/?] (NEW) ?

Dunno about the USB/bridge thing, you might like to check
www.linux-usb.org for FAQ/docs and/or mailing lists.

Good luck

Thank you. I knew these devices, but I think they are only USB 1.1
capables... and I would like to use an 2.4.x kernel, is it possible?

ALi M5632 based 'USB 2.0 Data Link' cables (USB_ALI_M5632)
^^^^^^^

Doesn't really sound like USB 1.1?

Check out if you have support for it in kernel 2.4, dunno and I
can't be bothered to boot up a 2.4 kernel system right now.

#bofh excuse 106: The electrician didn't know what the yellow
cable was so he yanked the ethernet out.
