If you plug the MN710 into a USB 1.x port, your transfer speed between the
device (MN710) and the computer it is plugged into will top out at a max of
12 mbps (in reality, it'll probably be less).
However, that won't affect the connection speed to a 802.11g AP (which can
be up to 54 mbps) (though you'll never be able to take advantage of speeds
higher than 12 mbps speeds as the port simply can't go faster than that).
