Am looking seriously at Wanadoo's 8 meg offer - the £14.99 for first 6
months (and £17.99 for next 6 months) looks very good - although I will
probably need more Gig usage per month than this minimum.

Is there a counter anywhere on one's PC (am using XP Home Windows) that
would tell me how much I have downloaded say in the last 30 days?

Thanks a ton - very nice indeed. Wow, scary at how much download has
already accumulated in 1 minute!

Try Down to home. It keeps a log of your usage and gives some graphs of up,
down and combined traffic, plus a few more neat features. Its a small
program that sits in the tray and does its thing pretty transparently.

The only problem is that if you are using a network, the network traffic is
also counted.

Thanks, John - have been using "netmeter" which is very good, but will give
this one a go too.

Cheers.

We shouldnt have to rely on a seperate application to log our usage.
Like John says, these application log all network usage and not just
internet usage. Wanadoo need to make usage data available via the
member centre page.

They seem to know how much you have been using because they send emails
out to those who have gone over their monthly limit. Surely they can
make this available to their customers?

Perhaps not.

Yes - but see below!

I get the distinct impression that Wanadoo are highly generous at present
(due to their lack of user level monitoring of course!!!!!) and that people
can go well over their limits most months before triggering some (totally
manual) warning!
