Free Proxy from http://www.handcraftedsoftware.org/

Or maybe you'd like to try running Squid on XP:

Check out the 'hosts' file (usually C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts).
You can add entrys for each url you want to filter using notepad. Follow the
examples for the localhost entry.

You can also download pre-made filers using the hosts file, give google a
seach, for advert and porn sites.

The hosts file on the computer that connected direct to the internet will
also filter all computers that connect via it. Or you can place the hosts
file on each machine.
A reboot might be required for the hosts file to affect the URLs.

How are you connecting the machines to the Internet? If you are using a
router, that may have URL blocking capability in it. Are you looking to
block certain sites, or permit certain sites?

Go to one of these for a comprehensive hosts file that traps the
well-known malware sites:

http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.zip
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.txt

See also the alt.privacy.spyware newsgroup for much related information.

Not necessary. Any change to the hosts file has immediate effect.
