upstream errors

Does anyone know or have links to/docs that specify how the dslam
communicates the information about upstream errors to me (if it does at
all).

I got a new modem and whereas my old one only ever gave downstream
stats/counters, this one does upstream aswell. The trouble is that it
(well it did till I changed it) takes into account upstream crc/hec
errors and decides to resync sometimes. I did some logging and I suspect
that these are bogus errors - They can occur when no data is being sent
and I found one reference on google to a dslam reporting bogus errors.

It looks to me like this info is going to be in the gdmt/whatever specs
that I can't find for free download - if anyone has them/knows how I
would be grateful for a copy/any info.

TIA

Andy.
