Well,

I upgraded my Win 98 to Win ME, now my IE6 doesn't connect
to internet nor do other Internet related programs that
rely on a connection. At startup, I get a box informing
that "The Network Tuner has detected an error in the
network, please investigate". Someone has told me that I
may have a DNS entry and that if I do to delete it. Also,
when I try to bring up WinMX, it tells me that my TCP
Incoming Port cannot accept incoming data/files. Any Help
here, I haven't checked the DNS out yet. Help appreciated!!

Thanks much,

Jon

Hello Jon;
You may not be able to do an upgrade on the OEM, Windows
98 software in your machine. It worked OK for me, on my
Hewlett Packard machine, and failed on another machine.
Hang in here and wait for better advise from those more
expert than I. However, I handled my situation this way.
I purchased Windows 98 software(full verion, modest cost)
on Ebay auction and installed it. I then installed my Win
XP upgrade. I have oversimplified the process, with
respect to any application software you may have. There is
excellent help for this in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.
