It will most likely upgrade but it will be very slow. I have a machine with
an original Pentium 200MHz (not P2, P3, or P4 mind you, just P1) and 64 MB
of RAM that runs XP Pro. It's slow as hell, but I just use it as a file
server so it's fine for that.

Perhaps consider a reinstall of ME. I am running ME on a Pentium Pro 200
MHz, 96 MB of memory, and it is acceptably
fast for Web Surfing, Mail Reading, and Word Processing. It can even run
Quake 2 OK. Networked to XP Home.

The only concern for me is lack of security compared with XP. Stability is
ok with limited installs of other programs. I basically
have only the programs I use on the machine.

I wasn't complaining about my machine as it works just fine for what I need
it for (a fileserver). I was saying that when I sit at that machine and use
it directly, it is veeerrrrryyyy solw, but as a file server to connect to
and pull stuff from or write stuff to it is as fast as any other machine.

I use XP Pro. on this machine to secure it as part of my domain.

Sorry, wasn't aiming at you but at the OP. Truthfully, I'd run XP on this
machine if I could.
