I made the same change a year ago.
Power down the computer, router and modem, in that order.
Wait 30 seconds or more.
Power on the modem and wait for the lights to settle down.
Do the same with the router.
Then turn on the computer.
Ignore the setup software - it just complicates things.
If on cable, set for DHCP, if on DSL, use PPPoE and insert username and
password. MTU for cable is 1500 and 1492 for DSL
Access the router by Ethernet to get it all set up before going wireless.
