I have upgraded my old computer to Second Edition (Win 98) to connect to
Internet. I have a Siemens Gigaset SE551 WLAN dsl/cable router and Siemens
Gigaset USB Adapter 108 which I tried to install in my old computer since the
Windows XP computer (the newest) is wired to the WLAN.
I am unable to install properly this USB Adapter because when installation
is finished they ask me to insert the Windows 98 SE disc in the drive to copy
some files. I do it but the files are not found. This is happening any time I
try to change any setting or whatever I do. The moment it asks me to insert
the Win98 disk I know everything will go wrong. It never finds the files it
is looking for. I think the problem for installing this USB adapter in the
old computer is that my processor is only 300 Mhz.
I have tried to connect the modem directly to the old computer (It has an
Ethernet card installed) and use the USB Adapter in the new computer. If I
connect it directly to the modem it works but the moment I connect it through
the router, the new one connected to the wireless works, but not the old one.
Do you have any suggestions?
I have tried so many times... the problem seems to be the IP address.
I would appreciate your help.
Thank you so much.
