Upgrade to 1MB ADSL

I'm waiting for an upgrade from 512 to 1mb ADSL and have read something
strange posted by another upgradee.

Apparently BT sent an engineer to his house to do a line check. Is this
normal practice considering that when I had "wires only" installed any line
testing was done remotely?

Cheers

Bal

Its not likely but can happen - it depends on how close the remote line
tests they carry out are to the 1MB line limit.

If you may be a marginal pass/fail they will send someone for a more
accurate reading..

I think the first test is done remotely and you either pass, fail or require
further testing, so it depends which group you fall into.

I have a "wires only" 512 package, but the engineer needed to come out to do
an on the spot test. Presumably things will be similar for the 1MB package.

thanks Sunil, luckily I'm at home the next couple of days so not a problem
if Mr BT needs to come around.

Wouldn't worry to much as, at a pinch we can test your line from
outside your house.
