Unusual router problem

My wireless network is centred around a Belkin ADSL modem/Wireless
router, and most of the time works fine.

Occasionally, the data light on the router will go out after a period
of inactivity. The network still operates, but with no internet
access. Usually, when you then open up a browser in one of the
computers (an office PC or one of up to three laptops, all with
wireless adaptors), the internet kicks back in on the router.

However, sometimes, with the office based PC, this doesn't happen. I
can try loads of times, without success. Usually it works if I reboot
the router, but I just found out by accident that even after several
failed attempts from the office PC, it comes back up straight away if
you open up a browser from one of the laptops

I'm assuming there's some issue to do with the network adaptor in the
PC, but can't think what it might be. Its an internal PCI adaptor and
is actually the closest of them all to the router - about 6 feet away
with line of sight

It could be that the router is set up to disconnect from ADSLafter a
specified period of inactivity. This isn't normally a problem, as it
reconnects invisibly and almost instantly if required, You may have a
problem with the connection from the suspect machine to the router, as
you suspect. You could try reinstalling the latest WiFi drivers, and
seeing if it works better with another WiFi adaptor,

You can often sort out a dropped WiFi connection by right-clicking on
the WiFi icon in the system tray and selecting "Repair". (Or access the
adaptor's properties via Network Connections).

1) There is a timeout setting in the connection properties on the
router. It's set to a ridiculously low figure of 5 minutes by default.

Log into router. Under Internet WAN section, click on Connection Type.
Click Next and it'll show More Info. You'll see the Dial on Demand is
ticked by default (untick it) and the Idle Time set to 5 minutes or so.
