My internet speed is crap to be honest. i get 1meg when i live 400M
from the exchange and BT say that my line can get full 8meg and sky
say that i can get thier 16meg service as my line can handle 18meg.
But i only get the 1meg. So its probally one of the house extensions,
not quite. When i plug my router into the BT master socket on the wall
i get no internet siginal, no light at all. If i remove the face plate
there is another socket underneath it. If i plug it into there my
router syncs at 600kbps. So i plugged in my extensions and it seems
the further away that i am from the master socket the better sync
speed i get. The longest cable gets me 1800kbps. I am confused. Do
anyone have any ideas what could be the problem. Oh yeh and recently i
am haivng lots of dropouts.

What router are you using?

Also could it be that the frequent drops are causing the exchange to continually drop
the speed of your line (assuming MaxDSL), thus forcing a slow speed? Interlacing also
has something to do with speed too and may be causing your problem, but we'd need
someone like Kraftee to give a more knowledgeable input on this.

I had that happen to me. Zen got BT out and the guy found a problem with my line
somewhere on the pole - he also fitted one of those filter face plates while he was
here, as I'm on a long line - since then I've had a good steady connection and a
reasonable d/l speed of around 1870 kbps on a 2500 sync speed, which isn't bad for my
line length.

hope this helps anyway
