Win2k server 1 domain and 1 work group (not mshome). i have a mshome
workgroup icon that apears in entire network/microsoft windows network folder.
no client on network is on this work group. has been in place for over 7
days so it does no seem to be a time out issue. rebooted server, still no
luck. when you try to browse mshome you get not accessible, device not
connected. Any ideas how to pull this thorn from my side

If there are no machines remaining on the network with that as the Workgroup
Name then it will disappear eventually. The contents of Network Places is
based on the contents of a "browse list" maintained on the Domain Master
Browser. It is not a "live" view of the network.

Theoretically it is "live". The name should disappear
after a full browse cycle of 51 minutes or less.
Unfortunately that is not always the case. <g>
The presence of a WINS server which maintains
the list sometimes keeps the workgroup / domain
alive long after the machine is gone. If the user is
running WINS they can open the database and
sort by tcp/ip address and delete all mappings
pertaining to the server which has left.
