Unreliable browsing with 98 to XP

I have a peer-to-peer network running 4 98 machines and a
new XP machine that I am using as a pseudo server. I can
connect fine to the XP, but after about an hour, I lose
connectivity to the whole network. I then have to click
on the mapped drive, where then it times out a few times.
After about the third time, it pops up. Any ideas how to
fix this?
