I'm just about to take the plunge and get mobile broadband. How
easy/difficult is it to unlock it to all networks and, how do I go about
doing it please?

Aren't they supposed to be intentionally locked to ONE network ? That's part
of the contract. How would you acess another supplier's network without
having login details (and hence a contract) with them too ?

You sound a bit simple to me. Go read some books on the subject.

p.s. I'd advise you to learn how to reply to posts in Usenet properly too whilst
you're out buying those books.

There are thousands of examples right here to study.

The best people to ask are the mobile broadband people themselves.
I'm not sure that you can unlock them.

Mobile broadband might use a SIM and a mobile phone operator but it
isn't like a mobile phone, it's a mobile ISP which is rather
different.

AIUI, you'd either need to get a SIM for each operator that offered
mobile broadband *if* you can get the dongle unlocked *or* you'd need
a dongle for each operator which I think is the most likely.

Coverage is much of a muchness on all operators from looking as their
maps.

I sound a bit simple? I also sometimes top-post too! Have you never heard
of PAYG - take a look here:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UNLOCKED-T-MOB...d=p3286.c0.m14

It is so very easy to make snide comments at someone from distance by using
your keyboard but I suspect that you would be somewhat quieter if we were
face to face. I can also make my point in one message. You took three
attempts AND two minutes to complete what you wanted to get across to me and
YOU call ME simple???

Would you buy from that seller?

I don't think I would.

I can only comment on "Three" who charged £15 for the unlock code.

Try here for the modem:
http://www.three.co.uk/personal/prod...plans_payg.omp

The unlocking program and code are sent via e-mail.
Follow the instructions to use the code.
Job done.

Alan

BTW
There are "other" companies who can provide an unlock code.
Depending on the network, some Modems are capable of higher speeds.

I have to admit that I wouldn't buy from that seller but I wanted to
highlight to a previous poster that there are indeed unlocked modems
available.
