You may want to do a little more research before just jumping at the
cheapest price...

What do you recommend for best service and reliability?

a) depends whether they offer service where you live

b) depends how well they manage to actualy provide it
(took a friend several weeks from start to getting it working)

c) depends whether they have sorted out the oddities - he has had to
disable Call Waiting (as it didn't just do a gentle beep to warn of
a second caller, but interfered with the call... He and his family
have just come back from holiday and now find that on some calls it
is working one way - they can hear the people they call but not the
other way round. From his experience so far, I doubt he would make
the same change for his shop as he'd lose business with that...

Been ringing up three times a day 5 days a week trying to sell the
service.I assume they are paying large amounts in commission for a sale and
getting more then they can fit in. And all because I entered my No to see
if they where active yet.

Its one company that I will never use now They Make BT look good

Depends how much you want the 8Mb speed.

You can get Plus.Net BB Plus 2Mb for £14.99 (or £21.99 if you use P2P).
They will upgrade you to 8Mb for free, (IF and WHEN BT gets their kit sorted
out).
You can get all geo calls for £10.99 from OneTel or others.
And of course there is BT line rental at ~£10 too.
It's a good idea not to have all the eggs in one basket.

OneTel is OK, so long that you don't need their customer service (gone to
pot since Centrica takeover).

Plus.Net is good, reliable, with award wining customer service. I have been
with them for over two years now. If you decide to sign up with them please
use my ID 'wester' as a referrer and save me few pence,
thanks, regards,
Martin

I have been looking for quite some time and Zen do very well on
the above, but you pay a bit more for that.

I dont need support, but I want a service that is there 24/7, or someone
to ask why not and get a real answer.

NTL 100% uptime, flawless cs, mind you it helps if you have a direct line
as opposed to the normal public cs number , 100% reliability, not once
dropped, always super fast at all times of the day.

DONT DO IT!

I am finally managing to get away from these clowns on Aug 19th.

Customer services is the biggest joke I have ever experienced. They
are even worse than NTL - and thats saying something!

Try ringing their customer services - just to get the picture..... You
just wont get through.

I have now signed up with freedom2surf.

Looking at different forums, they seem to come out quite well. My own
experince to date, has been phones answered on calling and speaking to
people who (a) know what they are talking about or (b) take the
trouble to find out. Its been like a breath of fresh air! The only
downside, is they dont use a national number - but a quick search in
saynoto0870 sorted that issue out.

Ive signed up on their 8MB service and the cost will be £25 per month
for unlimited downloads. I did previously try to deal with UKonline,
but since they ignored my emails, I looked elsewhere. Im glad I did.

Oh - and you keep your phone on BT - so you can continue to use 18866
- yet another plus.

Roll on Friday ;-)
