I need to change my windows networking password, but the
user who set it up, doesn't know what it is. I have tried
deleteing client for Microsoft networks and restarting in
Windows Family Logon and then adding Client for Microsoft
Networks again, but it remembers the password?!?! Help!

I do still need to connect to my network, so deactiviating
the Micro Netwk is not a solution.

In a peer-to-peer network, Windows doesn't check the networking
password. You can enter anything or nothing at the networking
password prompt.

In Win98 search for *.pwl and delete them all and reboot, then enter your
user name and password.
Go to C:\Windows\Profiles and delete the old profiles for the previous users
if any.
For instance if the old user name was Bob delete the entire folder labeled
Bob.
pwl = Password List

Joe! You are my savior! I am not at that computer today,
but will be tomorrow. I did look up the *.pwl in the
knowledge base and it sounds like this is the fix! I
can't tell you how many hours I have been pondering over
this one. Thanks!

If it doesn't work when I try it tomorrow, I'm sure I'll
put up another post. ~Gretchen
