Absolutey NOTHING.

Functional Levels dictate what features are available between domain
controllers concerning replication features and what types of domain
controllers can exist. They have nothing to do with what type of clients
exist.

For instance, if there is an NT4 BDC that still exists, the level must
remain as Mixed Mode or Interim Mode (depending how it was installed). THis
level does not install the new features for enhanced replication that
Windows 2003 offers between DCs. Once you get rid of the NT4 BDCs, but you
still have a 2000 DC, then you can only move to Windows 2000 level. Once ALL
of your DCs are 2003, then and only then can you go to Windows 2003 levels.
Do each domain first, then the forest.
