Hi.

I am experiencing the exact problem described in Knowledge Base Article
Q811375: After the system is booted I am unable to manually start or stop
any services.
Bummer is: I already have Service Pack 4 installed and therefore cannot
apply the patch - it is already included in SP4.

Is there anybody out there who can help me?

Thanks,
Ralph

is the system running fine otherwise?
just for the heck of it, can you compare the date/time stamp on that file
with the one listed in that article just to be certain the version you have
is newer?
as far as getting around it, if the LDM service is what is causing the
problem, try changing the startup type of the service to manual and restart
and see how that works

Hi Seth.

Yes - no more complaints except related issues.

The Version in use was newer than the patch - from 2003, but since it is a
German language Version of Windows 2000 Server it might not really be newer.

I have tried that - I am unable to change anything regarding services - even
the startup type. I can open the dialogue, but as soon as I press "OK" to
save my changes mmc hangs and does not save anything. I cannot touch
services at all.

All ideas welcome.
