I have the following problem in my environment:
NT4MemberSpokeWINS01 <------> NT4MemberHubWINS <------> W2K3MemberWINS
^
NT4MemberSpokeWINS02 (unplugged) <-----|
- NT4MemberSpokeWINS02 is an owner of some static records. Some of those
records are incorrect. Some of those records are correct. So far we know
about several incorrect static entries in the WINS, but there may be more.
- NT4MemberSpokeWINS02 is presently unplugged from the network and
inaccessible.
- Incorrect static records on NT4MemberSpokeWINS01 are causing problems for
the users who are pointing to the W2K3MemberWINS for the NetBIOS name
resolution.
- We deleted those incorrect entries on the W2K3MemberWINS and referenced
NT4MemberSpokeWINS02 in the "Block records for these owners" field. We have
not rebooted W2K3MemberWINS or restarted WINS Service on W2K3MemberWINS
though.
- After while those deleted entries re-appeared on the W2K3MemberWINS.
I have 2 questions:
1. Why could it happen?
2. How to get rid of those records permanently on W2K3MemberWINS or in the
entire environment? [Please bear in mind that NT4MemberSpokeWINS02 is
inaccessible at the present time and is owner of a lot of other correct
records]
Thanks,
Vovan
