Unable to Join a Domain

I have a Windows XP laptop that I am trying to join to a
Windows 2003 Server domain. I keep getting "Access
Denied" when I type in the domain admin's account and
password. I have tried joining a workgroup, and then the
domain, and have tried using IPCONFIG /DNSFLUSH and
IPCONFIG /DNSREGISTER, but I still get "Access Denied."

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Name resolution is fine or you wouldn't get the logon box when trying to
join the domain. Access denied simply means that you're using a bad user
account or typing the credentials incorrectly.

I tried using other accounts as well, with the same
result. Also, I am able to join the domain using the
administrator account on other computers. It seems to be
a problem with this particular computer, I think I will
have to reinstall the operating system.

Sometimes you have to slap them around a little. Just forget DHCP
temporarily. Assign all static network settings including all Active
Directory DNS server and WINS server. Then you will *know* it is
looking at the right servers. And of course don't forget to check the
CapsLock key . Try to join it. If you finally get it joined, then
go back and set the Nic to use DHCP for everything.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried assigning a
static IP address, and putting in the DNS and WINS server
addresses, but it still doesn't work, I've also checked
that I'm typing the admin account password correctly.
