Unable to get DSL Speedstream 1500 to recognize MN-700

I recently purchased a new MN-820 Wireless Notebook Kit and the seller did
not mention that Microsoft scrapped this model.
I have been trying to get this to work and have been unable to do so. I was
replacing a D-Link DI-604 router which I am using now. I followed the setup
proceedure and the troubleshooting sections including the one about cloning
the mac address. Nothing seems to work. The DSL modem will not recognize the
MN-700. Is there anyway to check the MN-700 to see if it is functioning
correctly?
Is there something I am missing?
