Hello---

Recently the NIC on my Windows Server 2000-SP4 was replaced. I am now unable
to change the advance settings in TCP/IP settings.

I have tried changing the settings as local and domain administrator. It
allows to change the settings but does not save the changes.

Any assistance would be appreciated,

Hello eBoots,

Check on the vendors website to use the correct drivers. Remove it totally
from the device manager and reboot, during the find new hardware point to
the drivers location, do not use the builtin.

Hello Meinolf,

The NIC drivers for the old NIC were removed in add/remove programs and the
server shutdown. The old onboard NIC was then disabled in the BIOS. The
replacement NIC was then installed and the vendor drivers installed.

Should I have done this in a different order?

Thank you for your input, I am at a loss.

Sometimes the old NIC may still be in the registry causing problems when you
try to assign the same IP address as the old one was using.

Hello Kerry,

Thank you! I am no longer lost )

The old NIC didn't show up as a hidden device. My thought, it was due to
being disabled in the BIOS. However it did help in resolving my issue,

I renabled the old NIC in the BIOS and reinstalled the old driver. I was
then able to change and save the TCP/IP settings on the new NIC.
