Hi,

I client had recently migrate their network from Windows 2000 to
Windows 2003 Standard Edition. Now they are unable to browse the
network using My Network Places from all workstations and servers
except the Domain Controller with GC (there are total of 3 Domain
controllers). They get the following error:

Beach2K is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out
if you have access permissions.

The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available

This was fine before the migration.

Thanks.

Is the server multi-homed?
NetBIOS over TCP/IP must be enabled on the internal NIC, and the internal
NIC must be at the top of the binding order.

Hi Kevin,

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, the server is multi-homed. It has two NIC. I am pretty sure the
NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled but not sure if the NIC is at the top of
the bindings.

I will check the settings. Thanks.

Hi Kevin,

I enabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP and made sure the NICs are at the top of
the bindings. But all workstations and servers in the network still
unable to browse the network. The only working ones are the File
Server (which always work) and Exchange2003 server (works after I made
the change).

Thank you for your help.

I had ran the command "browstat status" in the w2k box and received the
following:

Browsing is NOT active on domain.
Master browser name is held by: BA-FS-1
Master browser is running build 3790

How do I active browsing on BA-FS-1? The Computer Browser service is
enable.

Thanks.
