Unable to browse the network

I have 8 computers (all Windows Me) networked through a
switch. Even though ME is not the OS for this, it has
worked okay for the past three years. However, after
rebuilding the computers (format c: and re-install of
Windows) I have three machines that will not see the
network. Lights on the switch indicate activity. Driver
for NIC has been updated. I uninstalled networking and re-
installed (this fixed the 4th machine having problems).

I'm using standard TCP/IP... should I try netbuei (sp?)

Any help would be MOST appreciated. I'm at a loss. I
even reformated the machines a 2nd time.

Thanks
:-)
