Hi,

This is I am posting the problem for the 2nd time. Expecting some response
from some expert.

On my windows 2000 server, there are two LAN card installed. One is for
public another one is for private.

Problem is with the private one and the problem happens on morning time
only.

Some times when users joined office in the morning and try to access the
specified server they are failed to get any response from the server.

From my end I have checked from the server to access other PCs, result is
same. Not able to access any PC.

I got a work around solution, If I disable and then enable the private LAN
card, problem becoming solved.

But I want to know why this is happening and looking for a permanent
solution.

Please help.

Regards
Swapan

Have you disabled Netbios over TCP/IP on the public NIC? Having two NICs
with Netbios over TCP/IP enabled (especially on a server) can confuse the
browser service and cause browser elections.

Hi,

Netbios over TCP/IP already disabled on the public NIC.

Surprisingly the problem happened at the local morning time. Before this
morning time no one accessing this server, as all the users left by evening.

Perhaps the private NIC on the server is shutting down overnight when it
is not being used.

Let's get back to the basics first. There is no need to do something
"unusual" to keep the nic "alive", otherwise we would all be having to do
the same thing.

Do an "IPconfig /All" on the machine and post the results here.

As far as the Nic hardware,...there are PowerSaver features you can turn off
in the hardware/driver Settings of the Nic, but most of the time that isn't
the problem.

Sometimes the Nic Driver can be corrupt and needs to be reinstalled or
updated to a newer one.
