Hi All

Wondered if anybody had any recommendations for reliable / affordable
UK website hosts.

I've been offered a chunk of (apparently well-specified) server space
to house up to 5 domains, for £155 pa.... don't know if this is good
value or not ?
Nothing fancy - no databases or Frontpage toys...

Up to now I've had several sites running in the same space with masked
redirection - but it looks a bit scruffy, and makes untangling the
webstats a bit of a nightmare !

Any suggestions, please ?
Thanks
Adrian - Suffolk UK

Difficult to tell without knowing your bandwidth requirements. £155
could be either terrible or fantastic

Check out news://uk.net.providers or if you want a web forum try
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/ or (for a more UK based site)
http://www.forum2.co.uk/

This is the wrong newsgroup to be discussing hosting providers but ...

That equates too £12.92 p/m with no extras (databases or anything).

IMHO far too expensive unless is 100% uptime and your sites mission
critical.

Have a look at http://WebHostingTalk.com - a great forum

If you want a hosting provider recommendation:

Hope this helps

34sp are fine for simgle domain hosting but, if you require multiple
hosting on the personal plan you can add between £5 and £7.50 per
domain per year unless you go for a reseller plan at £15 per month
with only 15GB between a max of 15 domains averages 1GB per domain per
month !!!!

The highest perasonal plan only offers just under 4GB per month data
transfer (4000MB).

For me at them prices it'd be cheaper to get a VPS.

Why UK?
I host in America (excellent service for under 40 quid a year). East
Europe also have plenty of new, dynamic providers.

That may be 20 times what is needed by the OP - there was no detail given as
to what was required of the hosting... Not that it's particularly important
/suitable for discussion in this newsgroup, anyway! Peter M.

[ While there are many hosting plans offering larger monthly traffic limits,
there are also "free" packages on offer when registering domains which let
a user have 10 MB of webspace and 100 MB/month, both of which are fine for
an entry level hosting solution. Of course for a bit of cash every month
or every year one can get lots more in webspace, traffic and facilities. ]
