[UK-Bug] New tool released - Exchange Info

Hey all,

Asking for trouble this I know, but could some of you kind soles
(those without broadband I suppose I'm aiming for at the moment)
please test a new tool I've put in place on the uk-bug.net website ?

What is it ? Put simply, its an "exchange tracker", where by the
setting of a cookie on your machine, you can customise the uk-bug.net
homepage to contain a block showing the latest state of your exchange
in regards to it getting ADSL enabled. Pretty simple - but quite
usefull for that "instant" check if thats what you require.

When loading the page, the block is visable on the right hand side of
the screen, called 'Exchange Info". Simply follow the instructions -
its fairly self explanetory, but if you have any issues, please dont
hesitate to either reply here, or email me direct.

For those already with broadband, we'll shortly be releasing some
information about your exchange which you might find interesting on a
not so frequent basis.

Well you wanted to know, so here it is!

I tried your tool, entering the exchange name of a friend who is waiting for
broadband.

Your tool gave a result of 81/150.

Their local campaign site gives 122/150, and the BT site gives 123/150.

A vast discrepancy!

Interesting, as the values retrieved are originated from BT.

Can you give me the exchange name ?

Ahhhhhhhh .. I see whats gone wrong !

There's an important little sign missing following the (in your
example) '81'. That sign ? A percentage !

The text displayed should read ...

This exchange has 81% of required registrations from a trigger level
of 150.

Its changed now, hopefully a little clearer.

.... but the real question .. is it of any use ?

Honestly speaking I see it has very limited use, as getting the data
would require (in)frequent visits to the site .. something which this
tool alone can not / would not promote.

But in terms of complication, maintenance etc ... its 99% free of
hassle, so I guess for the space it removes from the rest of the site,
its pretty pointless getting rid it.
