Can't understand why the still insist on asking for those prices when
they are getting undercut by so many other companies.

I suppose this comes down the simple fact that supply and demand
prevails. BTOpenworld know that a siginificant number of subscribers
will not concern themselves with an increased cost of suscription,
prefering to choose a known brand over an unheard of one. Certainly
this would be true with business customers, needing a "big name" so
they feel better placed should a complaint need to be raised - and
falsely believe that a better service will ensue.

For consumers the same applies to an extent - non internet savy folk,
whilst tempted with the likes of ADSL might not have heard of some of
the other ISPs. Its only through exploration, and mediums such as
this newsgroup are consumers slowly understanding that other
[reliable, cheap and frankly, damn good] ISPs exist.
