Is UK ADSL same as French ADLS?

Hi all,
Is UK ADSL the same as French ADLS, in otherwords would my D-Link 504
work in France?

I have used UK ADSL routers in France without any trouble with the
hardware/firmware. There are a few configuration options that are
different though. You will normally get those details when you sign
up.

Thanks for the info, that confirmed my suspicions. BTW, may I ask
what make and model of router worked for you?

Draytek Vigor 2600 worked as did a Zyxel Prestige 600 and 645R. I
have little doubt that most others would work.

On the France Telecom/Wanadoo ADSL Pro 1024+ service the settings
changed were:-

VPI = 0 in the UK, VPI = 8 in France
VCI = 38 in the UK, VCI = 35 in France

No other settings changed.

Just a word of warning make sure that the connection is ADSL over POTS
rather than ADSL over ISDN - as they require different hardware.

This caught me out in our office in Holland - ordered an ADSL line thinking
it would be like the U.K. and have analogue presentation - they installed it
over ISDN so our hardware wouldn't work. They have now installed on a
analogue line and our equipment works fine.

I *think* French connections also have the option of ADSL over ISDN so one
of our French staff was telling me - but I have no direct experience of
this.

It's kind of the French equivalent to ADSLGuide.org.uk... Lots of useful
info.
