Hi. I just installed Ubuntu Dapper Drake on my IBM R40, with an Intel
2200 wireless b/g card.

According to Google etc, the thing to do is use wpa_supplicant. My
wpa_supplicant.conf file currently looks like this:

network={
ssid="**********"
#psk="la de da de da! "
scan_ssid=0
key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
psk=**...
proto=WPA
pairwise=TKIP
group=TKIP

}

When I run it, the result is:

root@mattsBeast:/etc# wpa_supplicant -ieth1 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
-Dipw -w -d

Looks like you're running a wireless driver that doesn't support WPA.

I saw the exact same errors with my ipw2200. The wpa_supplicant.conf
that worked for me was:

ap_scan=2
eapol_version=1
fast_reauth=1

network={
ssid="your_ssid"
scan_ssid=0
key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
psk="your_psk"
proto=WPA
pairwise=TKIP
group=TKIP
}

Hey, thanks for your reply. I tried your script (changing the ssid
etc), but it still didn't work.

Before I started trying to get wireless working under Linux, I used to
have hair! >:-(

Can anyone tell me where to look to find out how Linux (particularly
Ubuntu) does wireless, and hence enable me to find out what it's doing
and hopefully what's wrong?

MTIA, Matt
