Two PCs, one piece of wet string

Hi there

I have two PCs (one ME, one XP) and a firewire cable (with appropriate
ports therefor in each machine).

I want to be able shift files from one machine to the other (both ways, on
an ongoing basis) over a simple bit of wire. I don't need to do any sharing
of printers/ISP connections or anything fancy like that and don't really
want to shell out on hubs/bridges etc.

Can someone tell me (using very short words and sentences) how I can set
them up so as to be able to move files between them.

TIA

Nic

forget firewire it wont work. Buy a USB data transfer cable, make sure it
comes with software ie Genelink or similar. Approx $10 (£15) on eBay

works a treat for me......

I'd guess that the firewire port will show up as a serial connection in
Direct Cable Connection.

If both machines were XP, he could just connect them together and it would
"just work". Firewire ports show up as network connections under XP.

As for ME, I don't know.

Firewire WILL work, and will be quicker then USB.

Because plenty of people try and end up in here asking how to get it to
work.

As I have said - with two XP machines you just connect them together.
Literally. I don't know if this is the case with ME or not, but I know it
will still work - it just might need more software and/or configuration.
