Two PCs can't talk, others OK

I've just installed a new PC on a client's network, now a total of five
PCs running a mixture of ME and XP. Before I delivered it, I checked it
on my local network, it would ping both ways to another PC.

Now I've installed it, there is a problem, but only between this PC and
one other. It can access all other PCs, and all the other PCs (with the
one exception) can access it. In summary, a group of five friends, but
two that won't talk to each other - like mutual enemies!

The two PCs concerned both show up in Network Neighborhood, but if you
try to open the PC from it's enemy, it fails. Even stranger is that the
enemies can't ping each other, but all other pings work. They have IP
addresses 192.168.0.11 and 192.168.0.15, subnets both 255.255.255.0

Any suggestions?

Thanks, but I can't see anything that would help in this case.

Anyone else?

That list has fixed every peer-to-peer network problem posted on this list
in the last two years. I suggest you read it word for word if you are
serious about fixing your networking problem.

Possibly, but I stopped at the step where it says to install other
protocols. I shouldn't need to do that, and doing so wouldn't help.

I can't see anything there that is relevant to why two computers can't
ping each other, but all others are OK. If you think it should help, can
you point it out to me please.

If you refuse to follow the steps using any "logic", don't be surprised when
it doesn't work.

If you did everything you SHOULD need to do, it would work, right?

Sorry, but I don't see how installing another protocol is going to help
two PCs to ping each other, this is a TCP/IP issue.

Can you suggest a route without this option?
