Hello,

I have a Redhat ES 4.0 Update 3 system with two ethernet interfaces (
eth0 - 172.16.2.126/16 ) and ( eth1- 172.16.2.126/16)

The problem i am facing is if i pull the eth0 cable, i can't ping both
eth0 and eth1 interfaces.

But if i pull eth1 cable, i could still ping eth0 . Is there a way
reach eth1 even if i pull the eth0 cable?

-sh-3.00# netstat -nr
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags MSS Window

172.16.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 U 0 0
0 eth0
172.16.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 U 0 0
0 eth1

0 eth1
0.0.0.0 172.16.0.199 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0
0 eth0

I tried adding a default route to eth1 also. But it did'nt help. I
don't want to do bonding. and we could'nt get a second subnet.

I researched for few days, i could'nt find any answer for this. Is it
possible to do this kind of setup?

Never mind. The solution is to Create two routing tables for both
interfaces and create two rules .
