I am setting up a wireless network at home and I'm having trouble
configuring the Wireless Access Point. Here's my situation:
On the computer I've got a HomePNA NIC card that I use to connect to
the Internet. I have another NIC, which connects to the Wireless
Access Point (D-Link DWL-700AP).
In Network Connections, the HomePNA NIC has the IP address manually
set to 192.168.1.1, while the NIC that connects to the WAP has an IP
address of 192.168.0.3. Both have the subnet mask set to
255.255.255.0.
According to the WAP manual, the WAP has the default IP address of
192.168.0.50. Yet when I enter the IP address to the Web browser, it
does not connect to the WAP. In fact, it tries to reach it from the
Internet through my ISP's proxy server.
I have tried to ping 192.168.0.50 and I get 1 ms response times so the
WAP is definitely there. But how do I access the Web-based
configuration utility for it? What settings do I need to do/change for
all of this to work?
