A two computer network Newbie question

Simply put, I'm trying to connect two linux boxes for the sole purpose
of file sharing. I'm a newbie to linux networking...i can get around
linux pretty well otherwise.
Details:
One RedHat 9 machine
One XBOX running some sort of Debian
connected together with crossover cable
Xbox supposedly has static IP 192.160.0.2
don't know any other important details
