Just to check i;m not barking up the wrong tree really...

I have a large thick stone walled farm house, my single wireless ap,
(netgear 834G) wont "reach" all parts of the ground floor, never mind the
1st .

I was thinking of adding a 2nd accesspoint unit (on its own) connected via
cat5 to the 834G and mounted on the 1st floor. I have been given, well
almost, a Belkin 7130 ap which i hope will work.

What stuff about channels ,SSID etc etc etc will i need to know about / set
up to allow me to seemlessly move from one AP to the other??

TIA

Tim..

Same SSID ,different CH's pref spaced 5 apart i.e 1 & 6 ,4 & 10....,you
will have to manually set the 7130's IP as it will not accept DHCP from
the 834G.

another method is to bridge the 2 AP into one to allow extended range
- most of the top end AP allow such a functionality.

that lot went right over my head, so im glad you were in a way!!

With the Belkin connected as well as the 834G, the lappy shows up two
available points of access, and i am using the belkin one at the moment to
conenct,- havent tried asking it to use the 834 yet.

Points noted about different channels... why is this then?

Tim..
