turn an access point into a client?

I have a wifi router (linksys befsw11s4 or so)
and a laptop out in my shed that just won't reach...

I have a pair of speedstream 2521's powerline to wifi accesspoint.

what I'd like to do is set one of the 2521's to be a client to the router
via wifi then send the signal via powerline to the shed- and back to wifi
on a different channel than the wifi in the house (which reaches the shed
once every blue moon for a marginal signal)

so it goes
linksys-wifi-2521 in house-powerline-2521 in shed-wifi laptop.
hows that for convoluted? but I can't seem to get the inhouse 2521
to work as a client, detecting and communicating with the linksys box.

anyone think I can succeed- or should I break down and buy an ethernet
to powerline adapter?

Try a reflector (or two) on the BEFW11S4 to improve the signal. If that
doesn't cut it, put a client card in the laptop that will accept an
external antenna and use a high gain directional antenna pointed at the
access point.

If you are line of sight to the shed you could try a "cantenna", an
antenna made from a Pringle's or other can. They are cheap and easy to
make and really increase the ability of the WiFi signal to reach a
specific location. Do a google search on Pringles and WiFi and you will
find instructions.

Or if your time/money equation is such that you don't mind parting
with $60 to save you from trying to find pigtails, connectors,
wondering if you'll be doing things right, and the health benefits of
avoiding the ingestion of a can of Pringles, try the kit with teh
appropriate external connector and a small tripod included here:

It works very well, and shipping was nutty quick.
