Tunnelling from a FVS318 to a BEFVP41

Can anyone tell me why I am pulling my teeth out trying to create a
VPN tunnel between these two routers? The Linksys (BEFVP41) is to be
the remote gateway but from what I have read elsewhere, I should
simply be able to create a gateway to gateway connection.

Perhaps I am missing something fundamental. The Netgear (FVS318) is
asking for Local and Remote IPSec identifiers while the Linksys is not
and the Linksys is asking for Authentication methods while the Netgear
is not.

Help?!

Thanks in advance,
Sly
