I can get it to work fine when it's wide open without any security.
But when I configure it to run WEP I can't get my computer to accept
the equivalent settings.

I open the Wireless Connection Properties, choose the Netgear router
from the list of Available Networks, and choose "Configure."

There I check the "WEP Enabled" box and fill in what I hope are the
proper settings, but when I click "OK" I get an error message that
says "The access point network 'NETGEAR' is already configured.
Please change either the network name or the network type before
adding this entry to the preferred list."

So this seems to be a Windows XP problem actually. Why would it have
a configure button if configuring is prohibited. And if configuring
is prohibited then how can I get the dang thing to work?

Has anybody figured this one out yet?

XP wants to do the configuring ... do the following and then let the
Netgear tools do the configuring...

Go to Control Panel> Network Connections> Wireless Network Connection >
Properties> Wireless Networks for the wireless card and check or uncheck
Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings.

Hey, Thanks. It was just like you said. Now how hard would it have
been for Netgear to put that in their manual.
