We've just removed WINS/Netbios and we're pure DNS. I've been looking at how
fast DHCP will update DNS and it seems like it takes 15-20 minutes in some
cases to register a new IP lease with our DNS server. We're Windows 2003 SP1
and all clients are XP Pro SP2.
We've got DHCP configured to "always dynamically update DNS A and PTR
records". I've seen a few systems take quite a while for DNS to get the
updates. I've watched DHCP give out a new IP and DNS still doesn't have the
update for 15-20 minutes. Anyone have a tip on where to start looking for a
setting to increase the update time?
