Troubles adding a wireless extender to network

I have a MN-500 and am trying to add a wireless range
extender (D-Link DWL 800AP+) to my network so I can have
access throughout my house.

I have been able to configure the extender while it is
plugged into the base station but as soon as I unplug the
cables everything goes south. My laptop can get a signal
from the extender but the extender is not 'talking' to the
base station. The result is that I am 'disconntected'
from my network ie internet access, printing capabilities,
etc.

Any thoughts on this?? Any experience putting D-Link and
MSFT products in same network??

Hi;
If you will read D-links product page for the DWL 800AP+ you will see,
plainly stated, that it is only suggested to work with other D-link airplus
products as an extender. It will work with other brands as an access point
only.
This is exactly how you describe your setup.

In all actuality, this answer is anly partially coreect,
thoug still useful to THIS situation. A bit of searching
on the web with the D-Link 800ap+. See, D-Link DOES say on
their web site that it will ONLY connect to certain D-Link
routers and equipment. BUT, and this is a BIG but, it will
also connect to quite a few other access points and
routers. Which ones? Welllll, that's the part you need to
search the web for. Obviously, so far, it seems the MN-500
is NOT one of those that D-Links like.
