Trouble Setting Up Wireless Network

I am trying to set up a wireless network for 3 PCs. I have a Netgear
54g Wireless Router with built in modem and 3x Netgear PCI 11MBPS
cards. I have installed 2 of the cards and their drivers. I have
also plugged the wireless router w/ built in modem into the wall. As
I understand it, I do not need to connect the router via ethernet as
the entire set up is to be wireless. I do not have an ethernet port
on any of the PCs. How do I set up this network? At the moment, the
settings are confusing me somewhat, and I cannot connect to my BT
Broadband Internet, and thus cannot connect to the IP address for the
router. How should I set up the router? How do I get an internet
connection going?

Tom

You won't need direct ethernet once it's up and running, but you'll
probably need to set up the wireless unit before it can connect to
anything. Catch 22.

Ethernet PCI adaptors are about 3 quid (http://www.ebuyer.com/) USB
adaptors about 10 quid, and cables about 1.

ethernet adaptors are usually built in these days.

You should have one machine on your network that's wired to the router, so
that you can access router. Wireless can get funky at times, but good old
wired is always there.

You need to connect via an ethernet cable to the router to do the initial
set-up - I dont think that the wireless AP inside is enabled by default.
Plug into it, open a browser, goto http://192.168.0.1, log in with
username/password admin/admin and then put your BT Openworld settings in the
ADSL settinggs and enable the AP - then you can use wireless only. All this
should be in the manual on the CD that came with the router

I second the suggestion that you install a wired NIC in one computer to
act as the router interface. I find it almost impossible to do any
intial setup wirelessly, since one misstep and the wireless becomes
inaccessible otherwise.

I am now typing this message from one of 3 computers online in my
entirely wireless network. I set this up myself, and am very pleased
with it. Not bad for a 16 year old! I am struggling, however, to
share my hp p1000 printer and to see the other pcs on the network in
their entirety. Looking at google, I am not alone in this problem!
