we have a workstation connected to windows server 2003. Periodically it will
hang while browsing the internet.
When this happens I can not ping sites from other workstations on the same 8
port switch. Upon checking the network status , it reveals that the
offending workstation has over a trillion sending packets and 700 received.
If I restart the offender the packet count is normal.

Any ideas on the cause?

At first: AV scanning by Kaspersky Antivirus (one of the best AV solution)
Second: It can be problem with NIC driver, please upgrade to latest version.
Third: It can be hardware problem. Please check another NIC card.
